The Cygwin DLL incorporates a console driver that emulates a Unix-design terminal in the Home windows console. Cygwin's default consumer interface is the bash shell working during the Cygwin console. The DLL also implements pseudo terminal (pty) devices. Cygwin ships with many terminal emulators which can be dependant on them, such as mintty, rxvt/
